Research

For the purpose of this study, Firebird by Edmund Dulac was studied as a sample. He uses light and dark colours to draw attention to the primary figures and to add a sense of dimension.

Warm colours, such as hues of orange, red, and yellow, predominate in the foreground of the artwork, while cool colours form the background.

The painting's composition emphasizes the two central characters with intricate detailing. The use of soft shadows between the darker objects adds to the painting's overall aesthetic appeal. There is the presence of an atmospheric perspective as the background is dark, and objects become darker in value, with less contrast.

Do you remember the details of the painting when you visit a museum?

How much time do you spend on a painting?

To address the research questions, I experimented with JavaScript. The painting is initially displayed in black and white to highlight its depth and dimensionality. When the user hovers over the image, they see the corresponding colors in different areas. Upon clicking, the user is presented with an expanded view of the selected area, allowing them to explore the details in greater depth, including textures, brushstrokes, and other intricate elements.

Research Question

How might we facilitate meaningful interactions between vendors and customers in a busy market environment?

This project aims to foster a more positive and meaningful connection between customers and vendors, ensuring that vendors feel valued and appreciated for their tireless efforts through these five interaction qualities:

Ideation

Based on the identified interaction qualities, ideas were developed and refined into concrete concepts. These concepts were rapidly prototyped and tested in real-world contexts. During testing, customers were engaged to share their experiences and provide feedback on whether the prototypes effectively conveyed the intended interaction qualities.
