Procedure of making Kombucha Leather
SCOBY leather is a flexible biomaterial that’s made from a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY). A SCOBY grows thicker with each brew as the culture feeds on the dissolved sugar and other nutrients in the freshly brewed and sweetened tea.

In a large pot bring the water and tea leaves to boil and steep for 15 minutes. Add the sugar and mix until fully dissolved, and allow the tea to cool down. Pour the freshly brewed and sweetened tea into the container. Add the SCOBY to the tea and mix in the starter tea and cover it with a cotton cloth. Store this Jar in dark for 14 days to harvest a fresh SCOBY.
After the SCOBY has been harvested, keep it under air or sun to dry out the moisture. The figures on the right highlight the dried scoby i.e. Kombucha Leather. A further procedure is under process - stitching a wallet out of this strong leather.
